I wonder if the reason people are using ChatGPT instead of Google has more to do with business models than technology.

Google already has the technology to show us great search results, but in recent years has chosen instead to show us the results that make them the most advertising money. ChatGPT isn’t optimising for profitability (yet), so even with imperfect technology (i.e. hallucinations) it’s still got a higher hit rate than the average Google search today.
