  6. I really love Loom’s approach to AI. It’s just quietly tidying up behind me, auto-summarising and adding structure to my ramblings.

The one area that falls down is the auto-descriptions in videos: the tone of voice never feels authentic. I’d rather it wrote with a neutral “This is an automated summary” tone than try to mimic an overenthusiastic YouTuber.

  7. Huh. Is there really no way to use Opentype features (e.g. stylistic alternates) in After Effects?

  8. I wonder how well the Siri writing stuff will adapt to your own tone of voice… ChatGPT etc all default to an over-enthusiastic “Californian” vibe that feels really inauthentic in the UK

  11. iPadOS: so instead of making it actually useful for serious work, they’ve decided to go with “it’s like an iPhone with a stylus”

  12. I mean, surely they’ve done something incredible with iPad? Right? Surely this is the year they make alllll that power worthwhile… right?

  17. For 12 years Sidebar.io has been the only links newsletter I open daily and I frankly have no idea how @sachagreif has kept it going this long, on a daily schedule, while keeping the quality so consistently high.

So long, and thanks for all the links!

  18. Ah the beauty of dynamically loaded content
