My mum dropped her phone outside their house today (near Ballymoney).
A passing cyclist spotted it, and decided the best thing to do was pick it up and bring it back on the train from Portrush > Belfast > Lurgan with them (75 miles away), where they handed it into the police station… completely oblivious to the Find My iPhone-powered car chase that was happening in their wake.

I used to have a three-strike policy for spam: I’d tolerate one cold outreach email, and one genuine follow-up, but as soon as I sensed I was on an automated “hey just checking if you got my email” flow I’d block/report.
Now everyone is doing the automated follow ups, so I’m having to block on the first email.

So it turns out Apple’s “Theft & Loss” cover isn't actually handled by Apple, it's handled by AIG, whose site is incredibly buggy, and among other issues won't accept my payment (tried multiple cards & browsers).
Apple support are unable to help with this and can only suggest contacting AIG directly by phone.
So when you get your phone stolen, the only way to arrange a replacement via Apple's “Theft & Loss" cover is to… make a phonecall.
It's been a fun evening.
