15 notes. Back to the latest.

  1. I’m 36 years old and I just realised “crime doesn’t pay” is a pun

  2. What are some good online resources for learning about planning/planting flowerbeds, shrubberies, etc?

  3. Why would “hand cut” be a selling point here?

  4. I agree with most of the thinking in this, except I’ve found x-height (using the ex unit) to be more reliable than cap height when it comes to optically matching different typefaces

  5. If you were putting together a conference focused on good old-fashioned Web Design, who would be your dream speakers?

Who’s pushing the medium forward these days?

  9. Just been to the Bellagio Fountains and that scene at the end of Oceans 11 where they’re the only people there is looking increasingly like a plot hole

  11. Finally got a chance to try Apple Vision. First thoughts:

    • It’s definitely impressive and feels magical. My brain couldn’t quite fathom that others weren’t seeing what I was seeing.

    • It’s fuzzier than I expected. Maybe my peripheral vision is just exceptionally good, but I really noticed the foveated rendering.

    • The eye tracking is impressive, but I often missed selecting something because I looked at it, then glanced away as I was tapping it, meaning my tap didn't register.

    • I probably just had it on wrong but the headset never felt comfortable to me.

    • It seems odd that I have to reach up to hit the digital crown to get back to the homescreen... that feels like it should just be a gesture.

    • Watching the Avatar 3D movie demo felt even fuzzier

    • The environments felt more real than I’d expected

    • The keynote “presentation environment” thing is pretty cool, but weird that there’s no audience

    • Rotating 3D objects with two hands in Jig felt really intuitive
